The HALO Trust

The HALO Trust takes on the job most organizations politely avoid: making war‑torn land safe again. In places like Syria, families return after conflict only to find their roads, orchards, and backyards still seeded with explosives. HALO clears what’s been left behind—turning ground that once threatened life into ground that supports it.

The Work

HALO is a non-governmental demining organization founded in 1988. Their work includes surveying contaminated land, deploying trained deminers to remove explosives, and delivering risk-education programs—especially for children. They operate in more than 20 countries, including Syria.

The Spend

Funding supports staffing, training, protective equipment, clearance tools, field logistics, and community education. In Syria, this directly strengthens both urgent clearance operations and long-term land restoration.

The Impact

HALO has cleared millions of square meters of land worldwide. In Syria, over 500,000 people have received risk education, and teams continue expanding to meet growing clearance needs.

The Connection

We support HALO because they confront a real problem with measurable outcomes—restored land, reopened roads, and safer communities.
